Summer is near, and that means it’s almost time to pack the cooler and book that summer trip to the beach! Every corner of the US has beautiful beach vacations and getaway options available, and here are some of our favs.
Located off the coast of North Carolina, the Outer Banks is a unique vacation destination in that besides the houses and businesses on the main roads, the beaches of the Outer Banks are untouched by boardwalk gimmicks and loud hotels on the shore. It’s a peaceful, family oriented destination with nothing but naturally beautiful scenery. But don’t forget the Duck Donuts, a local treat with multiple locations on the islands!
The Florida Keys in general are an amazing destination year round. Obviously, the first place you should go in the Florida Keys is Key West, but make sure to make a stop along the way at Bahia Honda State Park. This breathtaking beach is located 12 miles west of Marathon, close to the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge, with incredible views of the old railroad bridge.
Forget about the reality show. Laguna Beach in Southern California and the neighboring Crystal Cove State Park will have you gasping as you drive down Highway 1. Located in Orange County about 1.5 hrs from LAX, Laguna Beach is a seaside town that looks like coastal Italy, with cliff side restaurants, shops and art galleries all walkable to the sand.
If you like a casino night or fried carnival treat on your beach getaway, Atlantic City is the place for you. Since Tropical Storm Sandy and the Covid pandemic, Atlantic City has been rebuilt in a big way and is having somewhat of a renaissance. New resorts and casinos are popping up everyday, like the new Hard Rock Hotel and Ocean Resort Casino.
This one requires some flying! Hawaii’s beautiful beaches are a list all their own, but Ka’anapali Beach on Maui’s west shore is among the top. Lined with a walkway of hotels, shops, and restaurants that connects nearly 3 miles of white sandy beaches, and a short ride to the famous Old Lahaina Luau, you can’t beat the location and the sunsets at Ka’anapali.
